A L EAST SEASON 12 PREVIEW

LAST SEASON: 88-74

OUT: Chad Keisler, Fausto Aquino, Harry Almanza

IN: Benny Sosa

PREVIEW: Even though Pats team didn't have the best regular season and with the distractions of running the World .He went into the playoffs with no expectations. His Red Sox shocked the World and won their 3rd World Series. After the celebrations died down and all the hush money was paid to the party girls. Pat went into the offseason and let a Trio of players go (Keisler, Aquino and Almanza). So far he has brought in 1 free agent (Sosa) but look for more changes after S/T. This team will battle the Yankees for the Division and are the favorites to win Back to Back Titles. I think they will do the first but come up short on the second. Prediction:90-72

LAST SEASON:85-77

OUT: Robert Thomas, Vicente Henriquez, Donne DeWitt, Alex Tabaka

IN: Dave Sheldon , Alex Buchanan

PREVIEW: The Yankees lost the Division to the Red Sox...Egads! And worse....They missed the playoffs for the first time. ARomano went into the Offseason with 1 mission. Get this team back on the right track. First he let Thomas , Henriquez and Dewitt go to free agency. Then he brought in Free agent slugger Sheldon and traded for Buchanan. Now that he added more Fire Power this team could win the Division but it will be a battle. PREDICTION:89-73

LAST SEASON: 67-95

OUT: Hector Schwartz , Rafael Arias , Jack Bonds , Orlando Duran , Zach McGowan , Tommy Bold , David Arias, Troy Mota, Shawon McDonald

IN: Sonny Williams, Manny High, Benny Ramirez, Kevin Song, Chris Taylor, Marino Costilla, Catfish Carter, Mitch Osborne, Carlos Sardinha

PREVIEW: Bourboncask is in the 3rd year of a rebuild .And he continues to collect Prospects and bring them along slowly. So it wasn't suprising that 9 players left to seek other teams. The Orioles then brought in 3 free agents (Williams, High and Ramirez). Bourboncask promoted Song,Taylor,Costilla,Carter, Osborne and picked up R-5 Sardinha. This team is a collection of solid AAA players with a star here and there. This is by design. By keeping his payroll at 37 million he has plenty of money to pick up tasty IFA's or trade for prospects. This team may emerge soon!! PREDICTION:70-92

LAST SEASON:48-114

OUT: Darren Gray, Tom Carson, Storm Glanville, Chris Jackson, Hideo Koh, Malcolm Long, Don Ross, Yuniesky Pujols, Marvin Villarreal

IN: Xavier Romero, Oswaldo Benitez, Donne DeWitt, Mike Bryant, Jose Fernandez, Lucas Peterson, Raul Martin, David Montanez, Darren West, Rob Ingram, Cliff Buckley

ARDTHOMPS PREVIEW: The Nationals are in the 2nd year of rebuilding the entire organization after it was left in ruins by the previous owner of 10 seasons. We were able to bring in a lot of mid-level talent last season through the draft, waivers, Rule-5 draft, and international free agency.

The goal this off season was to add a couple of veterans to the lineup, while not breaking the bank. With the additions of free agents, DeWitt and Benitez, and the acquistion of Buckley through a late trade, the middle of the lineup will now have some much needed contact/power.
The pitching staff is almost the same as it was last year, but the young arms are a year older and they have improved a bit.
Will this team be a contender? No, for quite a while, but they should be an improved bunch from last season. If the Nationals see the positive side of 60 wins, I will be surprised.

PREVIEW: Ardthomp took over a troubled franchise last season and will be rebuilding for several years. He let Gray ,Carson and Glanville go to free agencyand released 1/2 a dozen more. To plug the holes he claimed Romero off waivers and brought in free agents Benitez, DeWitt, Bryant and Fernandez. Then he Promoted Peterson, Martin, Montanez, West and picked up R-5 Ingram. Finally he traded for Buckley. It will be another rebuild year in D.C. but they will win more games. PREDICTION:65-97
