The DETROIT TIGERS traded Max Ruiz , Geoff Coombs and Daniel Creek to the TORONTO BLUE JAYS for Rafael Valentin and Andre Lincoln
Toronto gets a nice 3rd base prospect. A nice CF R-5 player(Which was lost on a R-5 offer back) and a very nice DH (Which I tried to acquire).Detroit gets a M L 2nd baseman that will be looking to free agency next year. And a nice bullpen setup guy.
The CHICAGO CUBS traded Adam Borland and a 1,000,000 to the BOSTON RED SOX for Ron Lamb and Nick Buford
Boston gets a M L closer with little stamina. The Cubs get a Basher that was languishing in AAA. and a M L Bashing LF'er that hasn't really Bashed the last 2 years in Boston.
The SAN DIEGO PADRES traded Benny Cruz 2,500,000 to the SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS for Herbert Gorecki
This is the 2nd time the Padres have traded Cruz to the Giants. With a stop in New York inbetween. He's a Good SS who hits lefties well. The Padres pick up a LF prospect.
The PITTSBURGH PIRATES traded Randy May and Freddy Downs and 2,800,000 to the DETROIT TIGERS for Graham Rhodes
Detroit gets another nice Setup guy and a solid Starting pitcher. Pittsburgh gets a very nice SS prospect. looks like both teams addressed their needs!
The NEW YORK METS traded Woody Rando 1,250,000 to the CHICAGO CUBS for Slim Stults and Stump Peters
The Cubbies get a M L setup guy . The mets get a younger setup guy and a 2nd baseman.Mets have a youth movement going on.
M L INJURIES
Don Bagley
Don "Paper or Plastic" Bagley Didn't start his rookie season well with a strained hamstring. But hes back on the ML club already. Watchout for this Kid !! he can knock the cover of the ball in Detroit. Put that in your Bag!!
Doug Velandia
Another Tiger hits the DL. This Starting pitcher has a history on the DL. This time it's a minor one. Just a Stiff groin.
Hector Gonzales
One of my Bench players hit the DL with a strained shoulder. He will be back in a week.
Yeico Astacio
This Giants Catcher Yieco "Piss" Astacio had some arthroscopic knee surgery. He will be back in 2 weeks. Bad Knees on a Catcher usually spells disaster.
Randy Roth
This Pitcher had a promising future but 2 stints on the 60 DL ruined that. So his 2 month injury may be a good thing for the Rays. With Control below 50 he will never be an effective M L pitcher.
Jesus Merced
Ouch!!!!! Jesus "Mercy me" Merced just suffered a terrible injury. I hate seeing a possible great player go down . Not sure if he can make it back by the playoffs. Lord have Mercy!!
Lorenzo Alomar
Chicagos long time 2nd baseman has suffered a bout of back spasms. This will keep him out for 2 weeks.
