St. Louis Cardinals (49-34) @ Oakland Athletics (54-29)

Game 1
What a pitching performance by both starters in this 1-0 Oakland win. Winning pitcher Onan Suh (8-3) went 8 innings, giving up 0 runs on 1 hit, 1 BB, and striking out 11 in this match-up of division leaders. Cardinal starter and loser Nate Bowles (6-3) gave up one unearned run to take the lost. 3B Michael Martin committed the only error of the game when he couldn't handle a groundball hit by Victor Arias (RF) in the 4th inning. Arias later scored on a basehit by catcher Cecil Etherton. Brandon Stark pitched the ninth for St. Louis to earn his 9th save of the season. The Atheltics have a double digit lead over the Anaheim Angels in the NL West while the Cardinals continue to put distance between them and second place Texas Rangers.

Game 2
The St. Louis Cardinals (49-34) tie series at 1-1 with the Oakland Athletics (54-29) in the game of the week 3 game series. The Cardinals enter the 9th with a slim 3 - 2 lead before exploding for 5 runs on 5 hits including a solo home run by player of the game Ronn Torres and a 2-run shot by David Batista.Starting and winning pitcher Bengie Sosa (6-3) led a combination of four hurlers to limit the power hitting Bay area Bombers to 3 runs. Oakland out hit St. Louis 13-10 however, they lost the extra base hit battle 3-6. Home run totals Oakland 1 and St. Louis 4. Hometown star and Oakland Centerfielder Diego Hernandez had the lone home run for the Athletics. Game three is 3/11 PM2.

Game 3
Aramis Rojas (6-2) shutout the Cardinals for 6 innings and Wiki Navarre picked up his 4th save and help the Athletics win the third and final game of this 3 game set. Oakland scored 6 runs on 9 hits, which included 4 extra basehits. Diego Hernandez (CF) led the Bay area Bombers offensive attack with 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 1 home run, 1 double, 1 run scored, and 2 RBIs. Starting St. Louis pitcher J.P. Johnson (6-1) left the game in the 3rd inning with an injury described by medical staff as "side muscle, strain/pull." Johnson is expected back in 2-3 days and is not expected to miss his next start. Both St. Louis and Oakland remain in 1st place in their respected divisions.
Next up for the Cards is four home games against the AL North leading Toronto Blue Jays (49-35) while Oakland heads east to start a 7 game road trip. First stop will be a 4 game series in Boston against the AL East 2nd place Boston Red Sox (46-38). The final leg of the trip will be a 3 games series in Arlington against the Texas Rangers (45-39).
