LAST YEARS RECORD:100-62

LAST YEARS PREVIEW:  The Oakland Athletics have blossomed under the tutelidge of Jefepwnzer. Jefe won the division and was selected by his fellow owners as the Owner of the year. With his R. E. McCabe Award safely in his trophy case.Jefe and the Athletics went into the post season with high hopes. They added a American League Trophy but lost in the Series to the Padres. The new Athletics are the same team only older with a few upgrades. They will win the Division and watch out in the post-season. This may be the year to win the Series.PREDICTION:99-73

OUT: Cecil Etherton , Dingo Watson , Henry Marte , Carl Williams , Diego Hernandez

IN: Octavio Torres , Bonk Penny , Harry Escobar

PREVIEW:Yep..as predicted Jefepwnzers Athletics won the division with 100 wins. But in the playoffs they were upset by the Bluejays in the DCS. You know....sometimes this game of ours makes no sense. The Athletics were the #1 seed and they were the class of the American League. They have been successful in the playoffs so the quick exit was a complete suprise.Last year the Athletics were average in hitting(.262 Team BA), good pitching(3.88 Team ERA), average fielding(103 Team Errors). In the offseason Jefe let Etherton,Watson,Marte and Williams go to free agency. Then he traded away Hernandez to Washington. With a few holes in the lineup, Jefe signed free agents Torres and Penny and promoted Escobar. The Athletics are a very good team but the loss of Hernandez will hurt them. It's a shame when you can't pay everyone you want to keep but Jefe got some really nice prospects in return. The Athletics are still one of the best in the A L and they should win the division.PREDICTION:95-77

LAST YEARS RECORD:80-82

LAST YEARS PREVIEW:  Looks like the Angels are back to their winning ways. Although they didn't capture the division crown . They did get into the postseason as a #5 seed. Captains Angels made quick work of the Brewers in the first round but couldn't defeat Division nemisis Oakland in the second round.Right now the Angels have 4 roster spots open. They could promote some players like Alving Escobar or sign some free agents with 8 million in cap space. Right now this team has a revamped pitching staff. But right now they will finish at or above .500.I think it will be above with some additions. PREDICTION:88-74

OUT: Larry Bates , Midre Cruz , Dusty Stoops , Norberto Crespo , Billy Yeats , Jermaine Duffy

IN: Patsy Kohlmeier , Bronson Jennings , Benny Sosa , Theodore Joyner , Alving Escobar , Desi Gonzalez

PREVIEW: The Angels did finish around .500 and missed the playoffs. But season 14 was all about getting better for the future. They had 5 first round picks and the additions of Luis Francisco , Blake Hunter , Toby Spence , Dallas Franco to the farm sytem is great. But Captain needs to promote them from Rookie ball so they start getting experience.Last year the Angels were the 2nd worst hitting club(.242 Team BA), 6th best pitching team(3.74 Team ERA), average in fielding(109 Team Errors). In the offseason Captain re-signed Pedro Oliva , Yuniesky Benitez and Glenallen Montgomery then he let Bates,Cruz,Stoops and Crespo test the free agent market. Finally he released Yeats and Duffy outright. With a bunch of holes in the lineup Captain claimed Kohlmeier off the waiver wire and signed free agents Jennings,Sosa and Joyner. He promoted Escoar and Gonzalez to fill out the roster. The Angels have 4 more first round picks this year and Captain will add some more tasty prospects to the farm.Right now this team is average at best.CAPTAIN PROMOTE THE ROOKIES!!!  PREDICTION:75-87

San Francisco
San Francisco Giants (AL)

LAST YEARS RECORD:74-88

LAST YEARS PREVIEW:  Like in the Roadrunner Cartoons. Poor Wylie is getting pummeled by flying anvils and falling boulders. His Giants finished close to where I predicted even after Benny Cruz returned to the team. The Giants have some talent they just have to start playing up to it.Looks like another average year for Wylie with a injury here or there. He sure likes players named Maddox. PREDICTION.81-81

OUT: Ezdra Castillo , Harry Gonzalez , Derrek St. Clair , Aurelio Rojas , Chico Duran , Bryan Brow , Peter Purcell , Hank Shannon , Yorvit Uribe

IN: Pasqual Matos , Midre Cruz , Adrian Davies , Rollie Barrett , Rob Kapler , Valerio Pena , Del Frazier

WYLIES PREVIEW: we have a young, up and coming offense, with asteady, unspectacular pitching staff. If the breaks go our way, we might contend.has a rifle for an arm, and has some pop at the plate. Starting pitching - Peter Purcell, Adrian Davies and Michel Concepcion, while not spectacular, make up a solid 1,2, 3. Several players are fighting for the 4th and 5th spot in spring training. Again, the bullpen will not be spectacular, but should be steady, with Joshua Workman, Charlie Outman and Yunel Mujica getting the bulk of the work in the late innings.Pasqual Matos is be given a shot at the closer role, with Greg Lewis wiating in the wings if Matos can't do the job. We hope to contend, but would not be surprised by a .500 finish.

PREVIEW: Poor Wylie again had the cartoon cannon blow up in his face when he pulled the string. It seemed every other week a Anvil was dropping on his head.Wylie started moving players out for prospects when they fell far behind in the standings. Last year the Giants were average in hitting(.262 Team BA), poor in pitching(4.95 Team ERA), 5th best in fielding (77 Team Errors). In the offseason Wylie released Castillo,Gonzalez,St Clair, Rojas and Duran and traded away Brow and Purcell. Then he lost Shannon and Uribe to the waiver wire. With many holes to fill Wylie signed free agents Matos, Cruz and Davies and promoted Barrett.Kapler and Pena were picked up in the R-5 and traded for Frazier.Right now the Giants have 1 roster spots open and several players waiting for assignment. So not sure if this roster will be the one left at the end of the year. Its nice to have options and the Giants will be changing all season. Right now they are a team with potential and may suprise us. PREDICTION:86-76

Los Angeles
Los Angeles Dodgers (AL)
Arte
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

LAST YEARS RECORD:58-104

LAST YEARS PREVIEW: As expected this team finished below .500. But Arte did pick up many tasty Prospects. In the draft he grabbed #1 overall Nigel Kirk then he had 2 more first rounders in #33 Paul Stanley and #34 Douglas Hollins. No secret here. The Dodgers are just going to ride along this season . They should finish just above the league min.PREDICTION:62-100

OUT: Sid Steele , Vinny Barnes , Octavio Lopez , Carlos Estrada , Albert Park , Yannick Reitz , Terrence McLemore

IN: Kevin Phillips , Wandy Vizcaino , Luis Franco , Nigel Kirk , Bubbles Aubrey

PREVIEW: The Dodgers as expected finished near the bottom of McCabe with 58 wins. They were expected to just pick up nice tasty prospects for the future and they did. They added Pedro Miro and Jose Colon to the farm system and they have the #4 pick in this years draft.Arte is slowley putting the pieces together for a bright future.Last year the Dodgers were near the bottom in hitting(.249 Team BA), average in pitching(4.72 Team ERA), average in fielding(94 Team Errors). In the offseason Arte let Steele, Barnes, Lopez, Estrada go to free agency and released Park, Reitz and McLemore. With a few roster spots open Arte promoted Phillips, Vizcaino,Franco ,Kirk and picked up Aubrey in the R-5.The Dodgers promoted some of their young studs and this is only the beginning. The youngsters will get some M L experience while the rest percolate in the farm system. The Dodgers will not be near .500 but they will add some more good prospects for the future.PREDICTION:70-92
