LAST YEARS PREVIEW: The Pirates are a rough bunch and Lefty knows this. The Pirates did however win the division with a .500 record. They Pillaged the Tigers in the first round of the playoffs and Plundered the #1 seeded Marlins in the second round. Finally in the N L championship the Pirates were sunk by the Champs in 6 games.The Pirates have a formidable pitching staff and a average hitting club. They are also pretty young and will play that way. This could be an up year and may get back to the Series. I'm sure they would like to win another. PREDICTION:91-71

PREVIEW: Lefty's Pirates Pillaged and Plundered the N L East again last season.That makes it 6 division crowns in the last 7 years. Lefty handed out fresh eye patches and strapped on his wooden leg. Then went into the playoffs as the #3 seed, but the tides of the post season were not kind to his Motley crew. The upstart Mariners fought a great sea battle and broadsided the Pirates in 5 games.Last year the Pirates were a average hitting club( .262 Team BA), 5th best in pitching(3.61 Team ERA), And they were #1 in Fielding(71 Team Errors).In the offseason Lefty let Guillen and Floyd go to free agency and traded away Priest to Detroit.With only a few holes to fill Lefty signed free agent Morgan and promoted Wunsch.Finally he traded for Wulf to fill out the roster.This is the same Juggernaught Pirates with a few tweaks. They should plunder the N L East again and could do damage in the post-season. PREDICTION:95-67

LAST YEARS PREVIEW: Money couldn't save the Phillies last season. Dennisdee's boys took the money and are still running. The Phillies were below average in hitting (.261) and hit only 174 homers. Couple that with 124 errors and bad pitching (4.95 ERA,1.49 Whip). And you can see why I think they make too much money.Dennis doesn't mind paying for talent but his talent let him down . Could this be a up year? They should be helped playing in one of the weaker divisions. So I think they will be allright. PREDICTION:84-78

PREVIEW: Dennisdee's boys still make over 100 million combined. And they still are a average team in wins.I was a little hard on the Phillies in last seasons preview and who am I to throw stones with my woeful team. They had a terrible season 13 and last year was an improvement so things are looking up in Philly. Dennisdee's team was average in hitting(.267 Team BA), Average in pitching(4.44 Team ERA), 4th worst in Fielding(134 Team Errors).In the offseason Dennis let Koch,Maradona,Rojas,Stevenson,Guillen,Joyner and Starr all head to free agency.Then he released Beckett to finish the exodus. With several spots to fill Dennis signed free agents Cruz,Gonzalez,Tavarez,Gentry,Dougherty and Ortiz.Finally he promoted Long from the farm system.This is still the same high priced core of players with some role players added. The Addition of Long will help out the error problem but its not enough. This team will be near the bottom in Fielding Percentage and that makes for a long year.PREDICTION:81-81

LAST YEARS PREVIEW: Pete and his Mets won........er.......lost to win the #1 pick in this years draft. Kinda like the real mets,Huh! It was forecast that Pete was riding out this season and rebuilding the farm system. He picked up Shawn Bunch, Erick Hardy , Iago Sheldon and Craig Rudolph in the first round of the draft.This is a classic out of the book rebuild. He filled the roster with R-5's and a waiver claim. It will be another 100 loss season for the Mets. But they will pick up some very tasty prospects.PREDICTION 60-100
OUT: Glenn Foster , Damaso Ortiz , Bernard Fonda , Miguel Garrido , Ricardo Sosa , Kyle Barry

PREVIEW: I was wrong, the Mets only lost 88 games last year. Pete was never serious about winning last year . He was serious about adding new talent though.Pete made Quinton Bryne the #1 overall pick in the draft and he will get the call-up in 1-2 years.Looks like the rebuild is going along as planned. Last year the Mets were the worst in hitting(.240 Team BA), above average pitching(4.22 Team ERA), Below average in Fielding(113 Team Errors).In the offseason Pete resigned Herman Karl , Felipe Padilla and let Foster go to free agency.Then he released Ortiz,Fonda,Garrido,Sosa and Barry. With some holes to fill Pete signed free agents Stechschulte and Reed and promoted Mordecai,Reyes,Bryne,James,Bunch,Sheldon,Walls,Wilkerson and Diaz.Well it looks like Pete is making his move. He promoted some of his stud prospects and he will hope the kids are allright.It will be interesting to see how they do. But the young can be unpredictable so I'll have to say the Mets will be improved but probably wont be in the playoffs...yet? PREDICTION:79-83

LAST YEARS PREVIEW: Last year was a great disapointment to Walsh after his 100 million dollar team of under-achievers finished with 97 loses. He sold out to coinguy for a set of Texas Rangers World Series Commemorative Coins. Walsh did stock the minors while he was here, picking up many players in draft. Marv Simms and Johnny Scutaro were the most noteable.The Broncos have a very good pitching staff but their hitting is below average. And hiring a AA hitting coach for the bigs isn't gonna help them.But this team has improved with the high dollar signings. PREDICTION:78-84

PREVIEW: The Good news is those Texas Rangers Commemorative Coins are worth more money. The bad news is the Broncos lost 94 games. This is not good for a 100 million dollar team...hell its not good for a 80 million dollar team. Coinguy may inherited this mess so it may take a few years to fix.Rochester was below average in hitting(.260 Team BA), Average pitching(4.57 Team ERA), The worst at Fielding(144 Team Errors).In the offseason Coinguy let Ganzel,Beltre,DeShields,Melendez,Gray,Spahn and Fox to free agency.Then he released Wang,Thurston,Keefe andMerced outright.With many holes to fill Coinguy claimed Baek off the wire and signed free agents Singleton,Rojas,Rowand,Duffy,Taylor and Hudson.Then he promoted Furcal,Lira,Simon and picked up Uribe in the R-5.It was a major over haul for the Broncos and Coinguy is fashioning this team to his style.I looked to see if he fixed his teams woeful defense and found the outfield is solid but up the middle infield could use an upgrade. Also the Catching position is weak..very weak.Looks like another down year for Rochester.PREDICTION:75-87
