THE WEEK IN McCABE S-13 #5

TRADES
The CHICAGO CUBS traded Magglio Torresto the BALTIMORE ORIOLES for Juan Tejeda and D'Angelo Vazquez
The Oroiles aquired a former SS and GG winner. This Youngster should help in both aspects of the game. The Cubs get younger by picking up 2 very nice prospects.

The ATLANTA BRAVES traded Phillip Rushford to the BALTIMORE ORIOLES for Milton Parque and Pedro Tavarez
Orioles pick up the Braves former first round prospect,18th overall. He was used as a utility bench player in Atlanta. Now he is starting in RF for Baltimore. The Braves pick up 2 prospects, one of which was traded to Baltimore in season 10(Parque).Talk about a Yo-Yo. Looks like the Orioles are looking to win Now! They are emptying the Cupboard and picking up some strong players.

The KANSAS CITY ROYALS traded Dioner Cortez to the TORONTO BLUE JAYS for Brooks Rootand Darrin Martin
Kansas City sends their former first round prospect, #7 overall to Toronto. The Blue Jays get a kid with a poor Glove .He was expendable but the kid can hit. Should see him in the bigs at LF next year. The Royals pick up a good hitting Catcher that allows alot of Stolen bases(DH?).They also get a nice young bullpen arm. Good trade for KC

The COLORADO ROCKIES traded Andy Wilkins to the DETROIT TIGERS for Norberto Velazquez and Doug Velandia
The Tigers get a pitcher that may have a better chance in Detroit. He's probably glad to be out of the Coors field launching pad.His contract expires at the end of this season. Maybe a free agent??The Rockies pick up a 2 pitchers that wanted out of Detroit. If they struggled there....... Imagine Colorado High and GONE!!

M L INJURIES
Oswaldo Serra
Milwaukees rookie SS has struggled at the plate. Now he has a Itsy Bitsy Cramp!! Man up Serra. He should pull up his panties and be back on the field in a week.

Philip Ashby
Mr Phillip Ashby's baseball career is done. This old guy hit 503 homers and is on his way to the Old Folks Home. Probably why The Royals traded for that hard hitting Catcher/DH.

Howard Hudson
Howard "the Duck" Hudson tore a ACL. This injury will keep him out for 2 months. Fowl Indeed!

Apollo Russell
Apollo "We have a Problem" Russell will have Elbow Surgery. If the Planets align right ,he could return in 3 moons.

C.C. Barfield
C.C."My P.P." Barfield strained his elbow while ...you know.....er ......flashing unsuspecting females. He made the mistake by whipping it out in front a a female Krav Maga instuctor. He will be back playing Ball in 3 months.
