A L SOUTH SEASON 14 PREVIEW

LAST YEARS RECORD:89-73

LAST YEARS PREDICTION:81-81  The Royals and Tenacious finished pretty close to predictions. And they add some juicy prospects in th IFA and Amatuer draft. Tenacious added talent and still kept his overall salaries low. Now he has a ton of cap space left over. This gives him plenty of flexability on which course to take. My guess is he'll pick up another tasty IFA and Draft pick. But if this team is in the hunt after the all-star break he will trade for a superstar or two.

OUT: Jude Kirkland , Philip Ashby , Jaime Sexson , Dusty Stoops , Fred Nash , Donne DeWitt , Elston Bowman

IN: John McNeil , Rick Ward , Shane Gentry , Louie Chang

PREVIEW: Congrats TenaciousTYT and the Kansas City on winning their first A L South division title. The Royals had a breakout season and picked up a couple tasty prospects to boot (Barry Henley, Eliezer Delgado). But in the playoffs they lost a heartbreaking game 5 to the Red Sox. With the next step in mind. Tenacious let 6 players leave for free agency (Kirkland,Ashby,Sexson,Stoops,Nash, De Witt)  and released 1 (Bowman). With several holes to plug Tenacious claimed McNeil off the Wire and signed 2 free agents (Ward and Gentry). Finally he traded for a ace starting pitcher (Chang). Daniel Belle was added last season with Dean Ruffin so this team is on the way up. The Royals should be in the hunt for another division title while trolling for a IFA or two. PREDICTION:90-71

LAST YEARS RECORD:86-76

LAST YEARS PREDICTION:92-70  The Cardinals finished close to my prediction and won this division. But in the playoffs they disappointed their fans by losing in the first round. Rklongball was so devastated he left HDB vowing to never Play again!! 421werd takes over a team that has owned my team and the rest of our division.Same team different skipper. But from what I see of 421's track record in Upper Deck . He should continue to win with this squad.

OUT: Reagan Chapman , Buddy Hoffman , Frank Mancuso

IN: Juan Belliard , Dude Colbrunn

421WERD's PREVIEW: The GM of the Cardinals, "Back" Werd, has done a lousy job of improving his team for season 14. He spent most of his money to re-sign FA's and ARB's, and was able to add only one ML caliber player to his starting lineup. He does have a good bit of money for international prospects, but it is doubtful, given his track record, that he has the guts to pull the trigger on a really good prospect. Werd tends to choke on bids over 10 milion or so, and you won't get a top-flight int. prospect for that.So if the Cards go .500 this year, they will be effing fortunate!

PREVIEW: Not quite as I predicted but not a bad first season for 421werd and the Cards. The Cards had the second best defense in McCabe (.987 FPct, 81 errors) and that will keep you in alot of games. In fact they would have made the post-season but lost a tiebreaker to the Red Sox. Werd went in the offseason and let Chapman go to free agency and released Hoffman and Mancuso. Then he claimed Belliard off the wire and signed free agent Colbrunn to a one year contract. As I look at this team thru the Franchise Rankings page. The St louis Cards are near the bottom in Pitching and are an average hitting club. Can they continue to play above their overall ratings? May be a down year for "Back" Werd. LOL. PREDICTION:72-90

LAST YEARS RECORD:76-86

LAST YEARS PREDICTION:90-72   Last year my pitching was atrocious. Thats the reason this team finished way below my prediction. To be more specific , it was my Bullpens failure that contributed the most. Perhaps it was my promotion of a AAA pitching coach or just shitty relief pitchers. With one more spot open I probably will promote a spring training star. But if my bullpen falters I still have plenty of cap space for a trade. Right now I feel this team will turn it around.

OUT: Oscar Martin , Steve Thurston , Desi Seneca

IN: Ruben Santiago , Armando Cruz

PREVIEW: I'm always overly opptomistic when I look at my team. I brought most of these guys up through the farm system and have wished they perform like i thought they should. But like my grandpappy said once: Wish in one hand and shit in the other and see which one fills up the fastest. My left hand is almost overflowing and I will have to start flinging dung soon. It seems my pitching staff has already been throwing like Crap (4.95 ERA , 1.54 WHIP). So either these guys start playing like big leaguers or the shit will hit the Fan. The first thing i did in the offseason was to let Martin go to free agency, picking up a Comp pick in the draft. Then I resigned Benji Moya for defensive purposes. I released Thurston for his poor defense and waived Seneca because he sucked. With only a couple holes, I picked up Santiago in the R-5 draft and traded for Cruz. I still have 2 roster spots open and I may choose to fill them with a free agent or promote from within. Right now my team will be lucky to hit .500. PREDICTION:81-81

LAST YEARS RECORD:73-89

LAST YEARS PREDICTION:88-74   Kennedjr did give St Louis a run but again fell short. He also bolted after the his disappointment in the playoffs. Ajaxx88 took over this team and vowed to clean house with his Scrubbing Bubbles. This is pretty much the same team but with a Rookie skipper. I don't have any idea if Ajaxx has HBD expierience. But so far he hasn't made any offseason mistakes. My guess is this team will still be on the up side.

OUT:  Gerald Ryan , Alex Garces , Matty Lackey , Rafael Rijo , Brad Borland , Pasqual Matos , Orval Jefferies , Patrick Riley

IN: Ed Franco , Mike Kubenka , Dave Sheldon , Howard Moore , Bill Carter , Gil Guiel

PREVIEW: Ajaxx is no longer a rookie owner. His Astros finished 8 games below .500 . Not bad for a first year guy. The Astros had a decent offense (.271 BA) but their pitching was the second worst in Wrigleyville (5.52 ERA,1.53 WHIP). The Defense was porous and they commited 117 Errors while turning only 324 doubleplays(4th worst). In the offseason Ajaxx let Ryan,Garces,Lackey and Rijo go to free agency. But re-signed Brad Borland. In what must have been a sign and trade, Borland was delt to Boston along with Matos and Jeffries. To complete the purge Riley was traded to Detroit. Now that he has many holes to fill, Ajaxx Claimed Franco off the wire and picked up Kubeka in the R-5. The trades brought in Sheldon,Moore,Carter and Guiel. This team has some very nice players but can they start winning? The pitching staff has been revamped but the defense is pretty much the same with a Rookie Fielding coach. That spells doom.PREDICTION:72-90
